Deterministic variable engine
Create variables with units, data types, initial values, formula logic, and date-wise rules.
Build models, forecasts, calculations, journals and ledgers in minutes, revisit us and change as needed, manage without spreadsheets.
Deterministic forecasting software
Silkybob is built for scenarios where every forecast value should come from explicit assumptions. Use it for business models, cash-flow plans, personal finance scenarios, FIRE planning, receivables, payables, and any time-series model that benefits from deterministic rules.
Create variables with units, data types, initial values, formula logic, and date-wise rules.
Model recurring changes by day, month, quarter, half-year, full-year, or custom intervals.
Use guided flows for business forecasting, cash-flow planning, FIRE, receivables, and payables.
Summarize periods and download the current forecast table as an Excel file.
Set a forecast time frame and periodicity.
Create variables manually or use the guided assistant.
Apply deterministic rules for growth, formulas, one-time values, or recurring changes.
Review daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual dashboard summaries.
Download the current dashboard view as an Excel file when you need a shareable snapshot.
Use cases
Build business forecasts for revenue, costs, production, cash flow, and growth assumptions using deterministic date-wise rules in Silkybob.
Cash-flow planningForecast income, expenses, savings, and cumulative cash flow using deterministic date-wise rules instead of manual spreadsheet formulas.
Personal finance and FIREPlan income, expenses, inflation, net worth, investment returns, and FIRE timing with a deterministic personal finance forecasting tool.
Receivables and payablesTrack receivables and payables by date, counterparty, currency, and amount with forecast-ready variables in Silkybob.
Variable modelingCreate deterministic forecasts with date-wise rules, variable based formulas, metrics, min/max tracking, and dashboard summaries in Silkybob.
Silkybob is a web-based planning, forecasting, and tracking tool that can handle up to 250 user-defined variables, with values calculated or set for each variable over a user-defined time period. This period may span a few days to several decades. Each variable can be subject to up to 20 change logic rules, with each rule having its own effective date range, trigger criteria, and computational logic. Overlapping logic rules are allowed.
Silkybob can do a lot of what spreadsheet software can do, without the need to type into each cell, copy and paste, or drag and drop across dozens of rows, columns, or sheets. It also provides basic metrics such as total, average, median, and more for variables or parameters across weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly periods, without requiring formulas or manual cell selection. Outputs can be presented from different time-period perspectives, such as monthly, quarterly, or annual views for management review, while business or operations teams can view and update data on a daily basis for specific dates.
You can use Silkybob to rapidly create financial models, cash-flow forecasts, depreciation schedules, investment analysis, and more. Users familiar with Silkybob also use it to create operational models, such as production processes, and project plans. Some users apply Silkybob for research and scientific work, such as weather models where random variable values are fed from other software that models stochastic or probability distributions. Many users also use Silkybob for daily activities such as expense tracking and personal finance. While Silkybob is useful as a forecasting tool, it can also be used to record and track historical actuals. Advanced users often plan and forecast on Silkybob, record actuals, and track variance using different sets of variables, such as Projected Sales, Actual Sales, and Sales Variance. At any time, you can transition from Silkybob to existing spreadsheet software by downloading Silkybob results into a spreadsheet.
Zero. Silkybob does not charge its users. Users do not need to register, create accounts, log in, or deal with password resets. Silkybob sustains itself through voluntary donations and advertising revenue.
Silkybob does not collect any personal information or user attribute data. The only data it handles is variable-related data voluntarily entered by the user. “Handles” is the key word because Silkybob does not store this data; it only performs calculations. The variable data remains with you in your web browser. We keep it that way to address privacy and confidentiality concerns while avoiding the need for user accounts, which would increase operating cost and complexity. You may review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy pages for details. You can also contact admin@silkybob.com for clarifications on your queries to the extent that we can address your concerns.
